Butterflies, Flowers and Poetry

Haiku
Drifting light and clear
cold, bright, white- watch as it falls
a single snowflake

Limerick
There once was a girl named Lily,
who was in love with a boy named Billy,
when Billy proposed,
there weren't any no's
and she wore a dress that was frilly.

The writing style of the limerick is what makes the form of poetry so appealing. When pieces of work rhyme it often adds humor. Since the limerick is formed with two separate rhyme schemes (aabba) this makes the poems even more fun. The rhyming pattern of limericks makes me want to sing the poem instead of simply reading, which makes it more enjoyable to me. If the limerick had any other form I don't think it would be as appealing, and certainly wouldn't  be as humorous.
